"Regardless of the configuration they choose, the American Chamber Players give commanding, delightful performances." - Tulsa World
Led by Artistic Director Miles Hoffman, the American Chamber Players have toured extensively throughout North America, and are hailed throughout the continent as one of today's most exciting and innovative chamber music ensembles. Engaged and re-engaged by prestigious concert series from Florida to British Columbia, they perform a varied repertoire ranging from familiar masterpieces to neglected gems to newly commissioned American works.
The American Chamber Players were formed in 1985 by Miles Hoffman from a core group of artists from The Library of Congress Summer Chamber Festival, and now includes Sara Stern (flute), Loren Kitt (clarinet), Joanna Maurer (violin), Miles Hoffman (viola), Alberto Parrini (cello), and Jean-Louis Haguenauer (piano). The six members of the ensemble perform programs with varied instrumental combinations that have been as enthusiastically praised as their dynamic performances.
The American Chamber Players have recorded music of Mozart, Bruch, Bloch, Stravinsky, Harbison, and Rochberg for a series of compact discs and cassettes distributed internationally on the Koch International Classics label. They have also been heard countless times on National Public Radio's Performance Today and on local radio stations throughout the United States, and they are the resident ensemble of the June Chamber Festival at the Kreeger Museum, in Washington, D.C.
Seating for this performance in Rosen Concert Hall will be on a general admission basis.
While at Appalachian, the American Chamber Players will participate in a residency program with the Hayes School of Music, funded in part by the Hayes Endowment for Musical Excellence.
