Appalachian State University

Boone, NC

Comprised of 16 world-class vocalists and three instrumentalists, this classical crossover group from Dublin is known for its dynamic stage presence and unique pan-European sound with a haunting quality that defies categorization. Anúna performs original compositions by creator/founder Michael McGlynn and has performed with such stars as Sting, Elvis Costello and The Chieftains. Presenting a hybrid of world, classical and tradtional Irish music, Anúna's concert at Appalacian is one stop on a 41-city North American tour. Their latest CD, Celtic Origins, has been ranked repeatedly by Nielsen SoundScan as the best-selling CD in the World Music category.

"Their stark harmonic purity made even more poignant by the occasional lone boom of a bass drum... unthreatening yet fiercely proud, natural yet indecipherable... Anúna found an utterly charming way of representing their own brand of tradition and culture." - The Herald (Scotland)

Late seating policy applies.
