"Whether in White House performances, public concerts, or national tours, the music of the Marine Band is the music of America." - General Michael W. Hagee, 33rd Commandant, U.S. Marine Corps

"For 200 years, this band has stirred the very soul of our Nation. It has lifted us on its soaring notes to the heights of our country's achievements and has comforted us during the depths of our country's tragedies. The beauty of its music reflects the magnificence of our great Nation and its citizens." - General Charles C. Krulak, 31st Commandant, U.S. Marine Corps

Led by Lieutenant Colonel Colburn, the "President's Own" United States Marine Band will perform a full-length musical program. Continuing a tradition begun more than a century ago by the Band's 17th and most influential Director, John Philip Sousa, "The President's Own" United States Marine Band performs for nearly 100,000 people across America on its annual concert tour, offering a unique blend of traditional concert band and contemporary wind ensemble music.

Government representatives and civilian critics alike salute the Marine Band for its talent and professionalism. Time magazine recently reported that the band "is now judged by experts to be the best the world has ever produced," and the New York Times hails the band's sound for its "glowing richness and impressive tonal precision." First Lady Laura Bush noted that, "The United States Marine Band, 'The President's Own,' has been at the side of our Chief Executive throughout American history. In times of triumph, at moments of tragedy, and on days of celebration, the Marine Band always hit the right note."

From the very first note of the opening fanfare, to the closing note of "Marine's Hymn," the concert is designed to create a unified musical experience. This event free of charge, and is co-presented by the Hayes School of Music.
