"At first sort of a swamp boogie band, then a swing band, then the 'Kings of Swing' and yet still a powerful outfit with a variety of retro roots that rock, the band has clearly outlived the swing scene that made it famous." - Ventura County (CA) Star

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was already a staple on the underground Hollywood club scene when they were featured in the hit film Swingers. Thanks to their scene-stealing performance and the showcasing of three songs on the movie's soundtrack, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was tagged as one of the hottest, hippest, coolest bands around.

It all began in 1989 when bandleader Scotty Morris decided to launch a three-piece jazz, blues and swing combo. The trio was named Big Bad Voodoo Daddy after a fateful meeting with blues guitar legend Albert Collins, when he signed Morris' poster, "To Scotty, the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy."

It's been well over a decade, and the now seven-piece band has played more than 1,200 shows on stages all over the world. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has become a household name at the White House, having played private events for our last three presidents. In 1999, they showed more than 50 millions viewers what they could do, performing during the Super Bowl halftime show with Stevie Wonder and Gloria Estefan. And if you didn't see them there, then you may have caught one of their five appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Influenced by great talents like Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino, Professor Longhair and the Dirty Dozen Marching Band, this critically acclaimed group is a self-described "alternative to retro" with a timeless quality that appeals to all ages. Featuring Scotty Morris (singer/songwriter), Kurt Sodergren (percussion), Dirk Shumaker (string bass), Andy Rowley (saxophone), Glen "the Kid" Marhevka (trumpet), Karl Hunter (saxophone, clarinet) and Josh Levy (piano), the band has been touring virtually nonstop since 1994, performing on more than 1,200 stages around the world. Their talent has graced the stages of the world's biggest and best music festivals, night clubs, county fairs, symphony performances and black tie events, the Super Bowl and the Orange Bowl, as well as private events in Hollywood and the White House.
